An exciting opportunity to join a large and respected FMCG company in Kent has arisen for an experienced Buyer. The Buyer will be responsible for leading and controlling all procurement activity within their remit to ensure that volume and profit targets are met within customer quality and technical guidelines. To participates in projects and activities to drive the success of the "Procurement Excellence" and "Route to Market" strategies.

  • End to End Supplier management. Fully responsible of assigned grower base
  • Negotiates and agrees weekly and seasonal prices with growers and suppliers that are aligned to delivering department budget. Verifies stock levels and availability at source to plan and forecast volumes required to ensure sufficient stock is procured to fulfil orders and to avoid excess resulting in shelf-life wastage.
  • Manages and ensures compliance with procurement processes and that data in the systems is accurate and up to date.
  • Reconciles analyses and investigates stock movement, discrepancies, lost boxes and outstanding stock using appropriate systems to ensure correct invoice rates, forecasted return and payment within credit terms
  • Owns the full claims process within the assigned grower base to reduce the business’s financial liability and builds a strong relationship with the grower based on trust.
  • Owns stock usage in conjunction with Supply Chain and Technical.

Owns procurement excellence element of seasonal reviews; creates and presents area of responsibility and delivers on detailed actions arising from the review; ensures methodical communication is maintained to all stakeholders

Skills and experience:

  • Value driven and ethical leader, who understands and can work at a strategic level.
  • Experience in a senior procurement/buyer management role, able to achieve high levels of performance through people.
  • Experience of working in the fresh produce industry.
  • Capability to build and lead a team that continually strives for excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; time management; self-motivation and organisation are also essential qualities.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, the ability to plan strategically.
  • Attention to detail, delivering high quality work to deadlines under time pressure.
  • Able to carry out detailed analysis and present recommendations in a way that is easily understood throughout the business.
  • Looking to innovate, effect and respond to change.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes including Excel, Power Point, MS Word. The ability to construct professional PowerPoint presentations, MS Word documents and Excel spreadsheets.Fluent Spanish, written and verbal an advantage
  • Provides accurate costing information to support the profit forecasting system to deliver product and grower margins against budget. Organises, negotiates, problem solves and communicates with Hauliers and the Inbound Logistic Team from source to destination to ensure correct quality levels on arrival, accurate delivery times, to maintain planned cost prices and continuity of supply chain and corporate service level agreements
  • Complies with all relevant Company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policy, Equal Opportunities, Diversity & Dignity at Work Policy and Hygiene Policy.

KPI experience and CIPS - Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply or equivalent.
